A SKU is one variant of an item, such as a colour or finish, that is sold, bought and stocked separately under its own code. Every SKU belongs to one item and is added from the item record's Related tab. Document lines across sales, purchasing, inventory and service carry a SKU next to the item; when a line is added, the SKU must be one of the item's own SKUs, and when the item has SKU Required switched on, the line must name a SKU. Stock is kept per partner account, branch, item, SKU and storage location, so stock without a SKU is a separate balance. Price list, discount group, tax group and trade scheme rules can target one SKU; a rule with no SKU applies to all of the item's SKUs. SKU codes are unique across the organization. The Default flag is a preference only: it is not enforced as unique, and a line you add by hand does not take its SKU from it.
Fields
| Field | Label | Type | Required | What it does |
CreatedById | Created By | Lookup → UserAccount | Yes
CreatedDateTime | Created Date | DateAndTime | Yes
ExternalId | External | Text, unique | | A reference to this SKU in an external system, used by integrations and imports. Unique across the organization when filled. |
Id | Id | Guid | Yes | |
IsDefault | Default | Boolean | | Marks the item's preferred variant. The published catalogue lists default variants first and the purchase frequently-ordered suggestion proposes the default SKU. Nothing prevents several defaults per item, and a line you add by hand does not take its SKU from it. |
ItemId | Item | Lookup → Item | | The parent item. A document line is rejected when its SKU does not belong to the line's item, and most line SKU pickers list only the SKUs of the item on the line. |
MaximumLotQuantity | Maximum Lot Quantity | Number | | The largest quantity one goods receipt or shipment line may carry for this variant; a larger line is split into several lines when it is added. Transfer lines split only when the cap is 1. Zero means the item's value is used; above zero, the SKU value takes precedence. Lines already saved are not re-split. |
ModifiedById | Modified By | Lookup → UserAccount | Yes
Name | Name | Text | Yes | The variant's name as people read it in pickers and lists. Required. |
OwnerId | Owner | Lookup → UserAccount | Yes
ProductColor | Product Color | PickList | | The variant's colour, from the values Red, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Black, White and Grey. When set, it is the label the order-taking screen shows for the variant; otherwise the SKU code and then the name are used. Values: Red, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Black, White, Grey. |
QuantityUnitOfMeasure | Primary UOM | PickList | | The variant's base unit; Each is the only seeded value. Order capture prefers it over the item's unit. Alternate units and conversion ratios are maintained on the item. Values: Each. |
RecordTypeId | Record Type | Guid, hidden
SKUCode | SKU Code | Text, unique | Yes | The variant's own code. Required and unique across the organization, not only within the item, so a convention that includes the item code avoids collisions. Order capture and barcode scanning can match on it. |
UIProps | UI Props | Text | | |
UnitOfMeasureOfConversion | UOM Conversion | Number | | Not used: the field stores no data. Unit conversions for an item are maintained on the item's units of measure. |
UpdatedDateTime | Modified Date | DateAndTime | Yes
