xMatix as a BeatRoute Alternative

Updated · by , Sales & Marketing

BeatRoute is an SFA-DMS platform with a clear point of view. Its own line is that "traditional SFAs give you just data", and its answer is goal-driven AI: purpose-built agents that plan beats, propose the next order, audit shelves from a photo and even call retailers to take orders in their local language. It runs sales force automation and distributor management on one platform, is configured from a brand panel rather than code, and its pricing page offers Starter, Business and Enterprise packs. If you are evaluating it, this page compares it on the axis where xMatix is actually different.

That axis is scope. A team searching for a BeatRoute alternative is usually asking: should the platform stop at the distributor's bill and sync with whatever keeps the books, or should the same platform keep the GST books too?

Two shapes of product

BeatRoute's distributor management is built to sit alongside the systems the channel already runs. Its DMS page says it "works with the billing software distributors already run": distributors with no back office use the BeatRoute app, those who bill from their own accounting software keep it, and orders, invoices and collections "sync both ways" by connector, file or API. Products, prices and distributor records come from your ERP. That is the execution-layer shape: SFA and DMS in one product, with the books outside it.

xMatix is the one-platform shape. The SFA, the DMS, schemes, claims, inventory and double-entry books with GST returns, e-invoice and e-way bill share one data model. The two shapes suit different businesses. One meets distributors where they already bill; the other moves the bill, the stock and the ledger into the same records.

Where the platform shape differs

Four places decide whether the difference matters to you. If none of them is a pain today, pick on the field experience and the AI roadmap instead.

GST e-invoicing

When distributors keep their own billing software, the GST invoice, the e-invoice and the return are theirs, and the brand sees a synced copy. That is often exactly right for multi-brand distributors who will not switch. When the brand wants the invoice born compliant on one record, xMatix validates GSTIN, PAN and HSN on the document, determines place of supply, and raises the e-invoice and e-way bill from the transaction, with the return filed from the same books.

Offline ordering

Both products say the field app works without signal, so test it with the phone in aeroplane mode. On xMatix the catalogue, price lists, scheme estimates, van stock and order and invoice capture all work with zero connectivity, and the statutory steps that need a network run from the posted transaction once it syncs. See offline order capture.

Schemes and claims on one ledger

BeatRoute traces every claim by ID to settlement. xMatix approaches the same problem from the ledger: the slab estimated on the phone is recomputed by the same server rules at posting, and scheme spend accrues into a consumption ledger that settles claims from the order lines that earned them. See schemes and promotions and trade claims.

ERP sync

BeatRoute pulls prices, schemes and credit rules from your ERP and offers BeatRoute Matrix as integration middleware. xMatix keeps the books itself, so the ERP integration often shrinks or disappears. Where an ERP stays, xMatix connects through integration apps (generic REST, SFTP and message queues); its named connectors for Zoho and Tally are inbound today. If you need to write back into an ERP you keep, scope that integration explicitly with either vendor.

Where BeatRoute may be the better fit

If your distributors are multi-brand and will not leave their own billing software, BeatRoute's "works with the billing software distributors already run" stance is a real advantage, and the brand still sees secondary sales as they are billed. The same is true if AI agents that act on the ground, such as an outbound voice agent taking retailer orders, are central to your plan, or if you want a packaged SFA-DMS with published packs and a startup programme for smaller teams. xMatix earns its place where the brand wants the distributor's invoice, stock, scheme ledger and books on one record, or wants to consolidate systems rather than integrate one more.

How to run the evaluation

BeatRoute's own advice is good: "the surest test is a pilot". Make it the same pilot for both products. Pick one territory and one scheme. Take an order offline for an outlet near its credit limit, follow it to the distributor's GST invoice and e-invoice, the e-way bill, the collection and the scheme claim, and ask at every step which system decided and who reconciles a mismatch. Then price the full scope on both sides: licences, the integration middleware, the distributor's own software, and the people who keep the seams in step.

Common questions

Why do brands look for a BeatRoute alternative?

Usually because they want the distributor's GST invoice, stock, scheme settlement and the books on one record, rather than an execution layer that syncs with the distributor's software and the ERP. Others simply want to compare SFA-DMS platforms before a renewal.

Does xMatix run SFA and DMS on one platform?

Yes, and the same data model also carries inventory, schemes, claims, portals and the general ledger. The visit, the order, the distributor's invoice and the ledger posting are the same records, so there is no integration between SFA and DMS to maintain.

Can distributors keep their own billing software with xMatix?

The xMatix model works best when distributors bill on the platform, because that is where the GST invoice, scheme and ledger stay in one place. Where they keep their own software, integration apps can bring data in, and the Tally connector syncs master data inbound today.

When is BeatRoute the better choice?

When distributors must keep their own billing software, when ground-level AI agents are the centre of your plan, or when a packaged SFA-DMS with a startup programme fits a smaller team. The one-platform case starts where the seams between the channel and the books are the cost.
